How close is the Cherry Hill center to Burlington County?

Closer than the name suggests. Our center at 1939 NJ-70 sits on the east side of Cherry Hill, right where Route 70 crosses into Evesham Township. For families in Marlton, Mount Laurel and Moorestown, we are minutes away, and Route 70, Route 73 and I-295 all lead almost to our door.

Burlington County is long, though. Mount Holly, the county seat, is about 13 miles from our center, and the county runs from the Delaware River towns along Route 130 all the way east into the Pinelands and south toward the Atlantic County line. So we plan care by where you live, not by the county name.

Western and southern Burlington County towns usually make center-based care practical. Families in the eastern and Pinelands part of the county are often better served starting with in-home ABA, with center visits added for social skills groups or specific goals.

The roads help. Route 38 runs east from Cherry Hill toward Mount Holly, Route 73 connects Marlton and Mount Laurel, and Route 130 serves river towns like Cinnaminson, Riverside and Burlington. For Medford, Route 70 itself is the most direct path west to our door.

How do our ABA programs work for Burlington County families?

Here is how each program usually fits, depending on which part of the county you call home:

Families who live minutes away often choose a full day at the center a few days a week and add in-home sessions for routines like bedtime. Families farther out often reverse that mix. Either way, one BCBA writes one treatment plan, so the goals at home and at the center match, and data from both places feeds the same progress reviews.

  • Full-Day Center-Based ABAfor Marlton, Mount Laurel, Medford and Moorestown families, full-day center-based ABA is a short Route 70 or Route 73 trip and gives your child a structured day with peers.
  • ABA Therapy for Childrenevery child's ABA therapy begins with a BCBA-led assessment and an individualized treatment plan, wherever sessions happen.
  • In-Home ABA Therapyin-home ABA is the usual first step for families farther east or north in the county, and it teaches skills where your child actually uses them.
  • Early Intervention ABAour early-stage support program for toddlers can run at home or at the center and fits around NJ Early Intervention visits.
  • School & Community-Based ABAschool and community ABA supports your child in a classroom, at a store or on a playground in your own town.
  • Parent Training & Supportparent training matters most when visits to the center are less frequent, because you carry the strategies between sessions.
  • Social Skills Developmentsocial skills groups meet at our Cherry Hill center, a short drive from most of western Burlington County.

Are you a fit for military families in Burlington County?

Burlington County is home to much of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and many families in the area are covered by Tricare. We accept Tricare, and we can walk you through what your plan needs before ABA starts, such as a diagnosis from a qualified provider and a referral or authorization.

Military life brings moves, deployments and schedule changes. Our small team and consistent therapists help your child keep routines steady, and parent training gives the at-home parent tools that work even when the schedule shifts. Depending on where you live on or near the base, in-home ABA is often the most practical way to start.

What is the path from Early Intervention to an IEP in Burlington County?

New Jersey Early Intervention, through the NJ Department of Health, serves children from birth to age 3. If your toddler receives EI services, ABA can run alongside them, and we are happy to coordinate with your service coordinator so goals line up.

At age 3, your school district's Child Study Team takes over evaluation. If your child qualifies, the team writes an IEP. Burlington County has many districts, plus regional high school districts, so it helps to ask your district early about the transition timeline. Our BCBAs can share assessment results and progress data to give the team a clear picture of your child.

If your child is already school-age, you can request a Child Study Team evaluation in writing. Bring any diagnostic report and ABA progress notes to the meeting so goals reflect what your child can actually do.

Does New Jersey insurance cover ABA in Burlington County?

New Jersey's 2009 autism insurance mandate requires many state-regulated plans to cover medically necessary behavioral interventions like ABA. Self-funded employer plans follow federal rules instead, so it is worth checking. We do that for free. We accept most major plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Tricare and UnitedHealthcare, and we help with insurance authorization from start to finish.

We serve towns across the county, including Cinnaminson, Maple Shade and Medford, as well as Lumberton, Willingboro, Burlington, Delran, Riverside, Palmyra, Southampton and Bordentown. Contact us to see which mix of programs fits your town.

What happens after the benefits check? Your BCBA completes a skills assessment, writes a treatment plan with measurable goals and recommended weekly hours, and we submit it for authorization. Once it is approved, we build a schedule around school, work and, for military families, any changes coming up.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is the Cherry Hill center really close to Marlton?

Yes. Our center is on Route 70 at the east edge of Cherry Hill, right at the Evesham Township line, so Marlton families are minutes away. Mount Laurel and Moorestown families are also close by way of Route 73, Route 38 or I-295.

Do you accept Tricare for ABA therapy?

Yes, we accept Tricare, which matters for many families connected to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. We check your benefits for free and help with the referral and authorization steps your plan requires before your child's first session. Tricare has its own rules for ABA, so we confirm the details for your family.

We live in the Pinelands part of the county. Can you still help?

Usually, yes. For families in eastern and southern Burlington County, we often start with in-home ABA so your child does not spend long stretches in the car. Some families add center visits later for social skills groups. Ask about current in-home availability for your town.

Can ABA start before our IEP meeting?

Yes. ABA through insurance and school services through an IEP are separate. Your child can begin ABA while the Child Study Team evaluation is underway, and with your permission our BCBA can share data that helps the team understand your child's needs.

Who supervises my child's ABA program?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst designs and supervises your child's plan, and Registered Behavior Technicians deliver most sessions. Charles Knoppel, BCBA, our Clinical Director, oversees every treatment plan. Because we keep caseloads low, your BCBA knows your child well. You will meet your BCBA early on.

How do we get started from Burlington County?

Call (732) 691-1299 or use our contact page for a free consultation. We verify your insurance benefits for free, help with authorization, and schedule a skills assessment. We often have openings and can start quickly, so ask about current availability.

Can you help with behavior at home, like meltdowns or running off?

Yes. Your BCBA can complete a functional behavior assessment to learn why a behavior happens, then build a plan that teaches safer replacement skills and uses reinforcement. In-home sessions and parent training help everyone respond the same way every time, which is key for lasting change.
