Why do so many Medford families choose in-home ABA?

Medford is a large township in Burlington County, with neighborhoods that stretch toward the Pinelands and plenty of homes on bigger lots. For a young child, home is where the hardest moments happen: getting dressed, sitting for dinner, sharing toys with a sibling, waiting for a turn. In-home therapy lets a therapist work on those exact moments as they unfold.

Our In-Home ABA Therapy program sends the same RBT to your house week after week, supervised by a BCBA who visits regularly and reviews session data. Therapists use natural environment teaching, which means skills are taught inside everyday activities, so your child does not have to relearn them in a new setting later. That carryover is called generalization, and home is one of the best places to build it.

In-home ABA also helps when a child struggles with new places or long car rides. Starting in a familiar space lets the therapist build trust and teach early skills first, and outings or center days can come later once your child is ready for them.

How does the Route 70 location help Medford families?

Our center sits on Route 70 on the east side of Cherry Hill, close to the Marlton line. Route 70 also runs through Medford, so the center is about 7.3 miles away on a road many local families already use. That makes Full-Day Center-Based ABA a practical option when your child is ready for more structure.

Some Medford children start at home and move to center days as preschool or kindergarten gets closer. The center adds group routines, peer interaction and a full clinical team in one place. Because your BCBA follows your child across both settings, the goals and data carry over when the setting changes.

A BCBA will not push a center schedule on you. If home is working well, we will say so. If your child is ready for more peer practice, we will explain the signs we are seeing and let you decide when to try it.

What role do parents play in a Medford home program?

A big one. When therapy happens at home, parents see it up close, and that is an advantage. Our Parent Training & Support sessions teach you how to use reinforcement, give clear instructions, prevent meltdowns before they start and respond consistently when they do.

We set parent goals the same way we set your child's goals: written down, practiced and measured. Brothers and sisters can be part of it too, since sibling play is often the first place social skills show up. Over time, the goal is for you to feel confident using these strategies on the days when no therapist is there.

What does an in-home ABA session look like in Medford?

Sessions are planned, but they should feel natural to your child. The RBT arrives with materials and a plan from the BCBA, then starts by connecting with your child through something they enjoy. From there, teaching is woven into play and daily routines, with short breaks built in.

You do not need a special room. Most families use a kitchen table, a living room floor or the backyard. Before leaving, the therapist gives you a quick summary of the session, and the data goes to your BCBA for review.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Do your therapists travel to all parts of Medford?

Yes. Our in-home team serves Medford and nearby Burlington County towns, including Marlton and Mount Laurel. Scheduling depends on therapist availability in your area, so we confirm the days and times we can offer during your consultation. We also coordinate with families in Moorestown and other nearby towns when building routes.

How far is your center from Medford?

Our only center is at 1939 NJ-70 in Cherry Hill, about 7.3 miles west of Medford. Route 70 connects the two towns directly. Families use the center for full-day, center-based ABA, while in-home and community sessions come to you. Many Medford parents pair center days with a few in-home sessions each week.

What is the difference between a BCBA and an RBT?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) holds a graduate-level certification, assesses your child, writes the treatment plan and supervises therapy. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is trained and certified to carry out that plan in sessions. Both credentials come from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. At Innovative ABA, the BCBA stays closely involved rather than checking in only occasionally.

Will insurance cover in-home ABA in Burlington County?

Many plans do. New Jersey's autism mandate requires many state-regulated plans to cover medically necessary ABA, and in-home services are a common covered setting. Self-funded employer plans have their own rules. We verify your benefits for free and tell you what authorization your plan requires. Our Burlington County page has more detail.

Can my child switch from home sessions to the center later?

Yes. Many children begin at home and add center days as they get ready for preschool or school. Your BCBA stays the same, so the treatment plan and data move with your child. We may need to update your insurance authorization when the setting or hours change. We plan the change together so your child has time to get comfortable.

What should I do if my child has big meltdowns at home?

Tell us about them at the consultation. A BCBA can complete a functional behavior assessment to learn why the behavior happens, such as escaping a task or getting attention. The plan then teaches a safer replacement skill and shows you how to respond the same way every time.
