What does "small by design" mean for my child?
It means we choose to stay a size where everyone knows your child by name. Many families come to us after an experience where therapists rotated constantly, the supervising analyst was a name on a report, and nobody seemed to remember what worked last month. We built Innovative ABA to be the opposite of that.
In practice, being small by design comes down to a few commitments we keep on purpose:

What is ABA, and how do we use it?
Applied Behavior Analysis is a well-studied approach to teaching skills and reducing behaviors that get in the way of learning. It is widely used to support children on the autism spectrum. ABA breaks skills into teachable steps, uses reinforcement to motivate learning, and relies on data collected every session to see what is working.
We use a mix of methods because children are different. Discrete trial training gives focused practice on specific skills. Natural environment teaching builds learning into play and daily routines. When challenging behavior is a concern, a functional behavior assessment helps us understand why it happens so we can teach a better way to meet the same need. Throughout, we focus on generalization: skills that show up at home, at school and in the community, not just in a therapy session.
Where are you located, and who do you serve?
Our center is at 1939 NJ-70 in Cherry Hill, on the east side of town near the Marlton line. It is the only physical location we have, and it is where children attend our Full-Day Center-Based ABA program.
Our therapists also travel to families. Through In-Home ABA Therapy and school & community-based ABA, we serve families across South Jersey, Ocean County and the Philadelphia region. The closer you are to Cherry Hill, the more practical center days become; farther out, therapy mainly comes to you. Our Service Areas page explains how that works by county.
What should a family expect from us?
Honesty first. We will tell you what your insurance covers, how far our center is from your home, and what we can realistically offer, even when the answer is not what you hoped. We do not promise outcomes, because every child is different. We do promise a plan built on your child's assessment, progress you can see in the data, and a team that answers your questions.
You can also expect communication. Your BCBA will review progress with you regularly, explain why goals change, and listen when something at home is not working. When a challenge comes up, you will hear about it from people who know your child, not from a call center.
Who leads the clinical work?
Charles Knoppel, BCBA, is our Clinical Director. He leads the clinical team and oversees every child's treatment plan. Every child's program is designed and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and day-to-day sessions are delivered by Registered Behavior Technicians who work under that supervision. Parents are part of the team too. Our parent training & support program gives you the same tools our therapists use, so progress keeps going between sessions.

Frequently asked questions
Is Innovative ABA only for children with autism?
Our programs are designed mainly for children with autism spectrum disorder, which is also what most insurance coverage for ABA requires. If your child has related developmental concerns and you are unsure whether ABA fits, call us. We will give you an honest answer and point you elsewhere if we are not the right match.
Do you have more than one location?
No. Our only center is at 1939 NJ-70 in Cherry Hill, NJ. We also provide in-home, school and community ABA across South Jersey, Ocean County and the Philadelphia region, so many families never need to travel to the center at all.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Tricare and UnitedHealthcare. We run a free benefits check before you commit, and we handle the prior authorization paperwork with your insurer. If ABA is not covered under your plan, we will tell you plainly so you can weigh your options.

What ages do you serve?
We work with young children through school age. Toddlers can begin with our early intervention ABA approach, which focuses on communication, imitation and play. Older children may benefit from our social skills development program alongside their core ABA plan. The BCBA recommends the right mix after assessing your child.
