Do you serve both Berlin Borough and Berlin Township?
Yes. Berlin Borough and Berlin Township are separate municipalities in Camden County, and we serve both. Route 30 and Route 73 run through the area, and Route 73 heads north toward Route 70, close to where our center sits on the east side of Cherry Hill. From Berlin, the center is about 7.8 miles away.
That makes Berlin a natural fit for Full-Day Center-Based ABA, and it is the program Berlin parents ask about most. We also send therapists into homes across both Berlins when that suits a child better. Families in Voorhees and Gloucester Township have the same choices.
What does a full day at the Cherry Hill center look like?
Every child's schedule is individualized, but most days share a rhythm. Your child is paired with a Registered Behavior Technician who knows them well, and a BCBA is on site overseeing programs. The day mixes focused teaching with play, meals, transitions and time with peers, because those everyday moments are teaching opportunities too.
Some skills are taught with discrete trial training, short, clear practice rounds with immediate reinforcement. Others are taught through natural environment teaching during play, snack or group activities. Therapists record data throughout the day, and the BCBA uses it to update goals.
Safety and comfort come first. Staff learn each child's sensory needs and signs of stress, and the schedule includes breaks and calming activities. Children who have a hard time with drop-off get a plan for that too, and most settle into the routine within the first weeks.
- Arrivalgreetings, unpacking and a calm start to the routine
- Focused learningcommunication, play and daily living goals
- Group timeturn-taking, following group directions, peer play
- Meals & breaksself-help skills and flexible waiting
- Pick-upa quick update on how the day went
Why does a structured center day help some children?
A center day gives a lot of learning opportunities in a setting built for them. Children practice with peers, which is hard to arrange at home, and they get used to routines that look like preschool or school. The full team is in one place, so a BCBA can step in, watch a session and adjust a program the same day.
That said, center-based ABA is not right for every child or every family. Some children learn best at home first, and our In-Home ABA Therapy team serves Berlin. We will recommend what fits your child, explain why and respect your decision.
Parents also benefit from the structure. A center day is predictable, which helps when you are working or caring for other children. And because you see your child's progress data regularly, you know what each day at the center is adding up to.
How can a center day prepare a Berlin child for kindergarten?
Kindergarten asks a lot of a five-year-old: sitting in a group, raising a hand, following directions given to the whole class, moving between activities on a bell and opening a lunch container without help. Many of those skills are hard to practice one-on-one at home.
At the center, your child practices them every day in a setting that looks more like a classroom, with support that fades as skills grow. If your child will have an IEP, the Child Study Team in your district can use our progress data to plan supports. For children already in school, school and community sessions can continue the work.
- Group skillslistening and responding as part of a group
- Independenceself-care, lunch routines, managing belongings
- Flexibilitymoving between activities without distress

Frequently asked questions
How far is Innovative ABA from Berlin, NJ?
Our center at 1939 NJ-70 in Cherry Hill is about 7.8 miles from Berlin. It is our only physical location. Berlin children come there for full-day, center-based ABA, and our in-home team also travels to families in Berlin Borough and Berlin Township. Families in Berlin Township often come up Route 73 toward Route 70.
How many hours a day is center-based ABA?
Hours are based on your child's assessment, your family's goals and what your insurance authorizes. Some children attend full days, while others start with shorter days and build up. Your BCBA will recommend a schedule and explain the reasoning behind it. Hours can change as your child progresses.
Will my child see the same therapists every day?
We work hard to keep it that way. Consistency is central to how we operate: small caseloads and the same RBTs session to session, so your child builds trust and therapists learn exactly what motivates them. Our Clinical Director, Charles Knoppel, BCBA, oversees every child's plan.
What should my child bring to the center?
We send families a simple list at enrollment. It typically covers things like lunch and snacks, a change of clothes and any comfort items or communication devices your child uses. Ask us at your consultation and we will tailor the list to your child. Most children feel more settled with a familiar item from home during the first few weeks.
How will I know how my child's day went?
You get a quick update at pick-up, and your BCBA reviews progress data with you on a regular schedule. Through Parent Training & Support, you also learn how to practice the same skills at home so progress continues after the center day ends.
Does insurance cover center-based ABA for Berlin families?
Many plans do. New Jersey's autism mandate requires many state-regulated plans to cover medically necessary ABA, including center-based services. Self-funded employer plans follow federal rules instead. We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Tricare, UnitedHealthcare and most major plans, and our benefits check is free. See our Camden County page for nearby towns.
Can my child attend the center part-time and get therapy at home too?
Yes. Some Berlin families choose a blended schedule, with center days for group skills and home sessions for routines like bedtime or getting ready in the morning. One BCBA oversees both settings, so goals and data stay connected. Your insurance authorization will need to reflect the hours and settings in the plan.
