Is there an ABA therapy center in Camden County?

Yes. Our one and only center sits at 1939 NJ-70 in Cherry Hill, on the east side of town near the Marlton line. That makes Camden County our home county, and it is where the full range of our care is easiest to reach. Most families here can get to us on Route 70, Route 38, Route 73 or I-295, and families coming from the Route 30 and Route 42 corridors in the southern half of the county usually pick up I-295 or Route 73 on the way.

The city of Camden, the county seat, is about 7 miles from our center. Towns like Haddonfield, Voorhees and Cherry Hill itself are even closer. Being local matters for ABA. A short trip means a child arrives ready to learn instead of worn out from the car, and it makes a full day at the center realistic for more families.

Because we are small by design, your child works with the same BCBA and the same RBTs week after week. Charles Knoppel, BCBA, our Clinical Director, is in the building and oversees every treatment plan.

Which ABA programs can Camden County families use?

Every program we run is open to Camden County families. Here is how each one usually fits a family living close to the center:

A typical full day blends one-to-one teaching with group time. Your child might practice requesting, following directions or self-care skills through discrete trial training in the morning, then use the same skills during snack, play and transitions through natural environment teaching. RBTs record data all day, and your BCBA reviews it to adjust goals. Because the center is close to most Camden County homes, many families pair center days with a few in-home or parent training sessions each month so skills carry home.

  • Full-Day Center-Based ABAthe most popular choice for families within a short drive; full-day center-based ABA gives your child structured learning, play and peer time in one place while you work or rest.
  • ABA Therapy for Childrenour core ABA therapy for children starts with a skills assessment and a written treatment plan, then tracks progress with session-by-session data.
  • In-Home ABA Therapyin-home ABA works well for routines like bedtime, meals and sibling play, and many Camden County families mix home sessions with center days.
  • Early Intervention ABAfor toddlers, our early-stage support program focuses on communication, play and imitation, often alongside NJ Early Intervention services.
  • School & Community-Based ABAwith school and community ABA, an RBT can support your child in a classroom, at the store or at the park, where skills need to hold up.
  • Parent Training & Supportparent training teaches you the same strategies our team uses, so progress carries into evenings and weekends.
  • Social Skills Developmentour social skills groups meet at the center, which is easy to reach from most Camden County towns.

How does a Camden County child move from Early Intervention to school services?

New Jersey's Early Intervention System, run by the NJ Department of Health, serves children from birth to age 3. If your toddler already has EI services, ABA can work alongside them, and we are glad to coordinate with your service coordinator.

Around age 3, responsibility shifts to your local school district. The district's Child Study Team evaluates your child and, if eligible, writes an IEP (Individualized Education Program). Camden County has many separate districts, from large ones like Cherry Hill Public Schools to small borough districts, so the process can look a little different from town to town. Our BCBAs can share data from your child's ABA program to help the Child Study Team see what your child can do and where support is needed.

If you have concerns but no diagnosis yet, a developmental pediatrician or psychologist can evaluate for autism spectrum disorder. We can explain what insurance usually asks for before ABA starts.

If your child is already in school, you can ask the Child Study Team for an evaluation in writing at any age. Many parents bring ABA progress reports to IEP meetings, which helps the team set goals based on data rather than a single observation.

Does insurance cover ABA therapy in Camden County?

Often, yes. New Jersey's 2009 autism insurance mandate requires many state-regulated health plans to cover medically necessary behavioral interventions such as ABA. Many large employers in the region use self-funded plans, which follow federal rules instead, so coverage can differ even between neighbors.

That is why we check your benefits for free before you commit to anything. We accept most major plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Tricare and UnitedHealthcare, and we handle the insurance authorization paperwork with you. Public programs can also cover ABA in general, and we can talk through your options when you call.

Which Camden County towns do we serve?

We serve all of Camden County. Families in Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Haddon Township, Collingswood and Pennsauken are close enough that center-based care is usually the simplest choice. Families in Voorhees, Berlin and Gloucester Township often reach us by Route 73 or I-295 and choose a blend of center and home sessions.

We also see families from Camden city, Lindenwold, Somerdale, Stratford, Audubon, Bellmawr, Runnemede, Winslow Township and the Route 30 towns. Wherever you are in the county, contact us and we will talk through the schedule that makes sense for your child.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Where is Innovative ABA's center in Camden County?

Our center is at 1939 NJ-70 in Cherry Hill, on the east side of town near the Marlton line. It is our only location, and it is where full-day center-based ABA and social skills groups take place. In-home, school and community sessions travel to you anywhere in Camden County.

Can my child do half the week at the center and half at home?

Yes. Many Camden County families split time this way because the center is close. Center days build learning routines and peer skills, while home sessions target daily routines like meals and bedtime. Your BCBA writes one treatment plan that covers both settings, so goals and data stay connected.

Will my child have the same therapist each session?

That is our goal and our habit. We keep BCBA caseloads low and assign a consistent RBT team, so your child is known by name and does not have to warm up to a new face every week. Charles Knoppel, BCBA, oversees every plan.

Do you work with Camden County school districts?

We can support your child's school program when the district and your family agree. With your permission, our BCBA can share ABA data and goals with the Child Study Team, attend IEP discussions and help an RBT support skills in the classroom through our school and community-based ABA program.

How soon can my child start?

We often have openings and can start quickly, so ask about current availability. The usual first steps are a free consultation, a free insurance benefits check, any needed authorization, and then a skills assessment by your BCBA. Call (732) 691-1299 to begin.

What ages do you see?

We work with toddlers through school-age children. Toddlers usually start with our early-stage support program, often alongside NJ Early Intervention. Preschool and school-age children typically use full-day center-based ABA, in-home ABA, school support or social skills groups, depending on their goals.

What if my child has never been evaluated for autism?

Start with your pediatrician, who can refer you to a developmental pediatrician or psychologist for an autism evaluation. Meanwhile, a free consultation with us can answer questions about ABA, explain what insurance usually requires and help you plan. If your child is under 3, you can also contact NJ Early Intervention directly.
